Mayhew Folger (1774–1828)

DEATHS.

. . . .

In Masillon, (Ohio,) Mayhew Folger, Esq. aged 56, postmaster at that place. The deceased was formerly engaged in the merchant service, and whilst in that employment, was the first discoverer of Pitcairn's island, occupied by the mutineers of the ship Bounty. He emigrated to this [Stark] county from Nantucket, in 1812 – and we can truly say, few men have been more advantageously known, or more generally beloved. – Ohio Repository.
